The good burgers of Ghent

We had dined lightly at Greenway Foods, a minimalist vegetarian snack bar and takeaway near the Vooruit cultural centre.

Cool jazz played in the background, while the menu featured veggie burgers, quiches, curries, salads and yoghurt. With shiny wooden and aluminium surfaces, high stools and bins for paper, plastic and metals, the eco-friendly eatery was full of ravenous students. I'm not surprised they eat so much, observed companion, tucking into his third cheeseburger. One of these would never be enough.But two was plenty for me. I especially liked the light, yoghurt sauce and crunchy buns. Quiches include mushroom, chicory and courgette with pesto. The most expensive dish on the menu is a Thai vegetable curry and by far the naughtiest is chocolate mousse. Drinks include freshly squeezed fruit juice.
